About Resilience PT

At Resilience Physical Therapy, we work with highly motivated, active individuals who place a high value on their health and function, both now and for the future. Each of our clients receive one on one, intricately individualized treatment from a doctor of physical therapy, every single visit. This allows us to expedite the rehabilitation process by utilizing a three step plan to quickly diminish and eliminate pain, fix the root cause of the injury, and ramp up activity so you can be at your best in the quickest amount of time. We believe physical therapy should resemble a workout more than a nap on a treatment table so we welcome all to come prepared to work. For those who are not presently injured but understand the importance of preventative medicine, we invite the participation in our one on one optimized training so that you can train for your best results now and longevity for the future.

Meet Our Founder

Michael was raised in Mount Pleasant, SC before attending Clemson University for his undergraduate degree in Public Health Science and then moving on to the Medical University of South Carolina to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. After spending 8+ years working in insurance based PT clinics, Michael became all too aware of the obstacles to quality care between him and his patients. From having to see multiple patients simultaneously, feeling pressure from corporate leadership to focus more on numbers than people, and seeing insurance companies have more power to dictate a patient’s care than the physical therapist, orthopedic physician, or patient, Michael knew there had to be a better way.

Beginning as a side hustle, Michael started Resilience Physical Therapy in March of 2024. Michael’s drive to provide the highest quality of care and one on one attention steadily grew his business to where he needed to scale down in hours at his insurance based job before quitting it altogether, about the time he and his wife, Abbie, welcomed their first child, McKayla. Michael’s commitment to meeting his patients where they are and creating an individualized pathway to success rooted in their goals has demonstrated that this method is not only much more effective but quicker than traditional physical therapy.

Michael is no stranger to physical therapy himself. After having to undergo shoulder surgery in 2021 as a result from complications watching a scary movie (you’ll have to ask him), he endured a long and painful nine month recovery before he was able to resume going to the gym and getting his life back. While Michael would not wish this challenging season on anyone, he became thankful for the experience as a means to truly empathize with what so many of his patients have had to endure. Michael understands that while we can’t control what physical challenges we are each dealt, there is always hope and he is passionate about navigating people through such seasons to not only restore full function but to teach them how to be resilient in preventing other injuries also.
